Born 1968 in Mérida, Venezuela.

Judith Peréz, married with five children. She lives and works in Mérida, a city situated in the Venezuelan part of the Andes. Judith is a self-taught artist. Being encouraged by her husband, an artist as well, she simply took up painting.

She began her artistic career by painting landscapes in typical folk art style. Searching for more artistic satisfaction, she changed her style. After initial experiments with realism, she devoted herself to figurative art.

Judith gradually developed her own concept: ”La Mujer de la O“. This means ”Lady of the O“. She uses this concept to depict the various aspects of women. Women as desirable objects, as lovers, as vulnerable creatures, like true females. The ”O“ originates from the characteristic round mouths of the persons she paints.

With the folk art influence, the exuberant colours and simple composition, Judith’s paintings are nice, cheerful, ambient and above all accessible.
